Wow, my year mark is next week! Strange. I went to the immigration office today to get my visa renewed so it’s official, I’m staying here until August 28, 2008. After that…. I’ll have to get back to you.
My last couple of months were rough. I had some conflicts at work and a heavy schedule (11 classes a day some days)! I also had to get a new job and find a place to live. On top of that Al had work problems that were giving him a lot of difficulty as well. But it looks like things are on the upswing for both of us (let’s hope)! My new job starts Monday, Sept. 3. I don’t know my exact schedule yet but it looks like I’ll have evening classes which is great because that’s when Al works too, it would be a bummer to work opposite schedules. I only have 15 hours of class time a week- down from the 38 I’ve been working! All of my students are already English speakers; I’m not teaching them English, I’m teaching them presentation skills. It’ll be great! Hopefully I’ll have time for language classes and research in the mornings. 🙂
In the last week of September is Chusok, Korean Thanksgiving, so we’ll have a well-timed vacation. Maybe we’ll go to Jeju-do? A tropical island south of Korea. We’ll see.
Wish me luck next week!
